How it works
A rent splitter divides rent and utilities between roommates. Split rent equally, or fairly by room size so someone with a larger room pays proportionally more; utilities are shared evenly since everyone uses them the same.
How to use it
- Enter the rent and any utilities.
- Choose Equal or By room size.
- Add each roommate (and room size, if using that method).
- Click Split it to see each roommate's monthly share.
FAQ
How do I split rent by room size?
Choose “By room size”, enter each roommate's room size (square footage, or any number that reflects their share), and rent is divided in that proportion. Utilities stay split equally since everyone uses them the same.
Can I just split rent equally?
Yes — leave the method on “Equal” and everyone pays the same. Switch to “By room size” only when rooms differ.
What about tracking it every month?
This calculates one split. For recurring rent and utilities that repeat automatically each month, Splitwin handles recurring expenses for you.
